About Maarten:
Hi everyone, my name is Maarten Immink, and I'm Calvi's Sales Manager. I've been working at Calvi for about five years now. When I'm not working, I like to stay active and enjoy sports a lot, I play soccer, occasionally tennis, and I'm pretty often at the gym. The most essential element for me in sports is winning, I like the competitive edge. Aside from having an active sports life, I enjoy hanging out with friends while enjoying a beer and traveling the world. My favorite food is mashed potatoes with kale and sausage on the side (in Dutch, we call it Boerenkool met worst), and my favorite TV shows are Band of Brothers and Suits.
How did you end up at Calvi?
After I finished high school I started studying retail, but quickly discovered that this wasn't the right fit for me. So I quit and joined the army for a year. After that, I decided to go back to school and got a degree in Sustainable Living Environments. When I finished, I wanted to get my Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management. During my Bachelor’s I learned that I had a passion for Sales. After finishing my studies, I knew that I wanted to work in Sales, and that I wanted to combine that with a consultative selling approach. I already knew Walter and Humphry from the soccer team and my hometown, and when we started talking about Calvi I was instantly enthusiastic and applied for a job. After my first interview, I was enchanted with Calvi's solution and organization. So that is, in short, how I ended up at Calvi, and I still love it here!
What do you like the most about your role as Sales Manager?
My main focus at this moment is generating new business for Calvi. To do so, I work together with a lot of colleagues from various departments. Next to that, we are expanding our partnership network. I think a lot of my colleagues will acknowledge this, but I do like a good competition or challenge and that’s something that I have in my job. I get a lot of energy from scoring a deal or settling meetings with prospects and advancing in the sales cycle. Working in a team that has the same spirit as I have, makes it extra fun.
I believe that we can add so much value for our clients, we do not only deliver a valuable solution, but are true partners as well and want to help them with our experience in the field of Bill Presentment & Communication.
What do you miss the most in this period of being unable to go to the office?
I definitely miss my colleagues and the chats we have during lunch or coffee breaks. Just talking about the weekend or work makes it easier to connect with people. When you only see people digitally, it does feel different for me. You can’t see how people act, and working together on projects feels more distanced.
Why do you believe CSPs choose Calvi?
The vision and expertise of our organization & employees and the active collaboration with our clients. In addition to that, our solution has been tested by end-users in multiple occasions and always came out as the best solution. Our clients choose us because they want a partner and a future-proof solution, and here at Calvi we offer both. We are constantly improving our organization and focus on the future and evolution of Bill Presentment & Communication.
What is your best experience at Calvi?
I would say the feeling we get and the team spirit we have when something needs to be done. For example, when an RFP comes in, we all work very hard to answer it within the desired timeframe. We focus on the goal we want to achieve and work hard to achieve our common dreams. Personally, I’m always proud of that and love that I get to be a part of that experience.
And where do you see Calvi in 5 years?
Successful! We will have onboarded several North American CSPs and will be even more successful in the European Market than we already are. Next to that, we will be working with clients in a completely different industry (or industries) than Telecom.
