About Maarten
"Hi all, my name is Maarten van Pinxteren and I’m 38 years old. I live in Vught with my girlfriend and two daughters of 7 and 5. I’ve been working at Calvi for six years now and I’m currently the Team Lead for the Consultants, Project Managers and the Billing team. Besides enjoying my time at Calvi, I like being time outdoors in my spare time. I like challenging myself and one of my New Year’s resolutions was to enter a 1/8 triathlon."
How did you end up at Calvi?
"In high school, I was struggling to find my ‘perfect fit’. I decided to go for a very broad study package. All classes involving Biology or Physics weren’t cut out for me, but I did find out that I had a natural talent for Economic subjects. When I eventually finished high school, I decided to study Business Economics and when I finished my Bachelor, I obtained my Master’s degree in Strategic Management."
"After graduation, I decided to pursue a life-long dream of mine: to travel through Australia and New Zealand. When I returned, I started working at an educational institution as a Project Manager for their IT department. I really enjoyed this job, but I had always wanted to start my own company, so I did. I started my own company, which specialized in cycling holidays. When my girlfriend got pregnant, I decided that it was time for more security and to earn a decent living, so I started working at ATOS as a Project Manager, and after 6 years I moved to Calvi."
What was your first impression of Calvi and your colleagues?
"When I visited Calvi for the first time I was really confused and thought my navigation had led me to the wrong place. But after driving past the castle a few times, I tried to enter the gates and as it turned out, I apparently had my job interview in a beautiful castle! My first interview was very relaxed, and I immediately felt a great connection. What I like most about Calvi is that I’m appreciated for everything I do and that everyone values my work. Besides that, all projects at Calvi are very diverse and challenging."
What is your role at Calvi?
"I’m Calvi's Team Lead for Billing, Project Management, and Consultancy. My tasks for the billing team are minimal, they work well together, and everything runs very smoothly. The Consultants and Project Managers are a close-knit team as well. The Project Manager is responsible for the project planning and the road to achieving our goal, and a Consultant is responsible for all content-related matters. I coach my team members and look for improvements. Because of my Economic background, I am also involved in the financial management of Calvi."
What is your best experience at Calvi?
"As a Team Lead, I have to find ways to run everything as smoothly as possible. Last year we’ve successfully introduced the project team concept in which we co-create solutions in collaboration with our customers and suppliers during large implementation projects. The positive energy you feel in the castle when Calvi employees, customers, and suppliers are working together in one room to reach one common goal is really impressive."
What part of your job is most energizing?
"I get it from a combination of all my tasks. I believe I have one of the busiest schedules in our company, I manage 11 people, a large proportion of the finances and our customers. I love the challenge of all my diverse tasks, it makes my job really exciting and I enjoy it! Coming up with new ideas is also something I like about my job."
How would you like customers to describe your teams and Calvi?
"I hope that they see us as a flexible and professional organization. We think along with our customers and look for ways to complement their technical architecture and way of working. We have developed into a stronger, more professional organization and are able to have more valuable discussions with our customers because of that."
Why should CSPs choose Calvi?
"I think that our product is very mature, intuitive, and innovative. It truly works seamlessly. But it’s not just our solution that makes us great, it’s also our people. I believe that we really make a difference when working with our customers; we are very focused on our customers and definitely go the extra mile. I feel that they appreciate this about our working methods."
How is Calvi going to develop itself in the upcoming 5 years?
"I expect us to grow our customer base in the next 5 years and especially hope that we can lift our organization to a higher level. I believe there are a lot more opportunities awaiting us, especially in Canada and the US."
"We are aiming to shorten the time needed to implement our solution. This will allow us to onboard customers faster and grow our customer base exponentially."
What is your personal motto?
“Life is what happens to you while you had other plans”
Calvi in three words:
“Growing, flexible, unique”
"Calvi is growing not only internally but externally as well; we started off as a small organization but have since become an authority in Bill Communication software. What makes our organization so great is that we always focus on our customers and stay flexible. We do our best to translate their wishes into solutions that work for them. The word that best fits CALVI is unique, because we could have chosen to have an office at some industrial business park next to the highway, but instead chose to stand out from the rest and settle in a castle. We create our own path and we have our own unique identity."
