About Rob
“Hi, my name is Rob and recently I’ve reached the mature age of 50. I’ve been married for four years and have two sons from a previous marriage. A year ago, my wife and I bought an older house which needed a lot of work with an intensely energizing and interesting project as outcome. I’ve always liked working with my hands, and as a real foodie I love to cook. A low and slow barbecue is something I especially enjoy. Next to that I really enjoy the little things in life, occasionally I spend my Sundays in the garden enjoying a nice cup of coffee in the sun!”
How did you end up at Calvi?
“That has been quite a journey! A little bit too late I figured out I actually liked learning, particularly the combination of theory and practice and that’s how I obtained my bachelor’s degree. I then worked for eight years at a company focusing on electronics. 8 years on, I felt it was time for a change and decided to further develop myself as a telephone exchange engineer. During one of my projects, I met two consultants of Tele-BS. After quite some hesitations they really inspired me and convinced me to quit my comfortable job. After my first job interview, I was impressed by the spirit and after five years I transferred to the new CALVI initiative, where I’ve been happy since and still enjoy (almost) every minute. I’ve gained so much insight into every aspect of our organization in almost every role you can think of.”
“After a visit with one of our prospects, we felt that we could benefit from a business consultant. I was struck with the energy of the sales team and they convinced me to become Calvi's first Business Consultant. My role focuses on listening to our customers and their needs from a business perspective. Converging our various values, their challenges and wishes into a mutual vision towards the future is what I’m focusing on nowadays.”
What has been your best experience at Calvi?
“In the 21 years I’ve been working at Calvi I’ve had wonderful experiences, not all of them work-related. The first thing that pops in my mind is ‘the’ legendary sailing weekend. We went sailing with all our Calvi heroes and we were blessed with some great sailing weather. What I liked most about this trip was that we were all together, cut off from work issues. It was a great weekend which I will always remember, even though we all drank a little bit too much.”
“Also, another great happening was the move to the Calvi headquarters in Nederhemert. I was involved in the move to the castle and the preparations of all technical aspects. I’m glad that everything went smoothly and that we still thoroughly enjoy working at our headquarters.”
“Another experience, as well as an achievement, was to expand our business relationship with one of our customers. I didn’t do this alone but got help from a lot of people within our organization. I believe that this is certainly the biggest and best experience I’ve had at Calvi and I hope that I can do this for another CSP in the future. I get a lot of energy working closely together with CSPs; getting a chance to deep dive in their organization and create opportunities for them which I really enjoy.”
What do you like most about Calvi?
“The possibility to combine work with my private life. As every dad and loving husband, it’s sometimes a challenge to juggle an intense job and personal life. Calvi trusts me in finding my own way to excel in every role, which I highly value. Next to that I get a boost from our sales team, this team consists of a group of young people who are eager to learn, develop and most of all they are working hard to achieve our goal of conquering the world. I really love the overall team spirit and mutual goals within the organization.”
Why do you think CSPs should choose Calvi as their partner?
“Providers should choose Calvi for our strong vision on Bill Communication. We’ve created a clear path to show where we want to go with Bill Communication, and we want to take CSPs with us on this journey. Our solution and portal are top-notch, and we are constantly evolving. We know what we are doing, and we have the expertise, knowledge and vision to take a CSP with us on our journey. We stay cool-headed and dare to speak our minds. Calvi has a strong vision, a clear roadmap, the right energy and knows how to communicate. Do I need to say more?”
Where will Calvi be in 5 years?
“We are continually working on optimizing our organization. In 5 years, I believe that we will have achieved the strongest market proposition in the world. In the past few years we have made some significant steps, creating a strong and future proof vision, improving our way of working, developing our product and way of communicating internally and externally.”
“Our product is going to develop itself to a uniform ecosystem for Bill Communication. A clear bill is not only necessary in the Telecom Industry, other markets can also profit from Bill Communication. Over the years, we have gained so much expertise and knowledge in this field that I believe we can help other markets tackle their complex bills as well.”

“Why evolving I hear you ask? Because we currently moving towards the next phase with our organization and software. We are rapidly evolving, and excited to see what the future has in store for us. As I said before, I get a lot of energy from my job and the team I work with. I would describe Calvi as innovative because we have such a strong vision regarding the path we want to take with Bill Communication.”
What is your personal motto?
“Just be you”
“A few years ago, I followed a course about communication, interaction and team spirit focusing particularly on feedback. During this course I learned that you are the best version of yourself If you stay true to your own personality and believes. Before this, my energy went into worrying about what other people thought of me and during those courses I received some pretty hard feedback. At the end of this course I learned that I should stay close to myself and I feel better about it every day.”
