About Sandra
"Hi all, my name is Sandra Loohuis and I’m Calvi's Administrative Assistant. I was born and raised in Vught (near Den Bosch), which is also where I met my incredible husband during a yearly Kids Activity week. We were both volunteers; he was a game coordinator and I was a game leader. We ‘clicked’ instantly, and we have been inseparable ever since. We got married in 2002 and have two kids together. I still see them as little boys, but I’m not allowed to call them that anymore, as they are 14 and 16 (even so, they will always be my little boys)."
"I do not really have a sports-based hobby unless you count the mountain bike that has been collecting dust in our shed as ‘being sporty’. When I was younger, I used to play tennis and always enjoyed it. But nowadays, I don’t really do sports anymore, unless you count going for long walks in nature. We have a dog and I love to take him on long walks. Alongside walking I enjoy watching movies and series, I genuinely find Netflix a great invention. Besides walking and watching movies, I find visiting our vacation home in France the most exciting and peaceful thing. We have a small house near the forest. I can spend hours in the garden and thoroughly enjoy the peace and quiet."
How did your adventure at Calvi start?
"That’s a long story and not a particularly straightforward one. When I finished High School, I started at what is now the Avans University of Applied Sciences in Den Bosch. I studied Economics with English, French, and German as additional languages. After I obtained my degree, I gained more experience in a number of companies. Due to some personal issues, I had to quit my job and decided to spend some time in France with my husband. When I got back from France, I had to find a new job. Coincidentally, an acquaintance of mine who worked at Tele-BS (now Calvi) contacted me and told me that they were looking for an administrative employee. I was glad to be offered this chance and that’s how I got an opportunity to develop myself and grow into what I do today. I’m responsible for so many things within Calvi; it’s my task to make payments, pay all salaries, keep control of our accounts, and the billing."
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
"I can’t really pinpoint one specific thing that I like most, however, I especially like the diversity of my job. One moment I find myself submerged in our administration and another I am having a meeting with our Sales team to go through our financial planning. I love working with numbers and overviews. I’m responsible for the organizational budgets and provide insights so that our organization knows what’s to come. So, what I like most is the diversity and the complexity of my job."
"Because of our international growth, my job has become increasingly exciting. We are broadening our horizon, and this brings new regulations, risks and different VAT rules. A lot of these things are new to me, but new things bring challenges and I’m excited to face them. I see these new developments in our organization as learning opportunities and I enjoy learning something new every day."
What are you the proudest of within Calvi?
"In general, I never really admit that I’m proud of anything out loud. But my colleagues tell me that it is important to be proud of the things you do. If I had to choose one thing; I would say I’m proud of everything I do for Calvi and how I am able to manage it on my own. My job comes down to a lot of time management and I’m skilled at managing my workload. But don’t get me wrong; I still get a lot of support from my colleagues and I’m proud to have these people around me."
How should a CSP see us?
"We are a very passionate organization; we believe that the bill is the key in the customer relationship. Our passion and all the hard-working Calvi heroes have shaped the organization that we are today. We are all very customer-minded and want to help them achieve their goals. We are all working towards the same goals and we work very hard to achieve them."
How would you describe Calvi's work environment?
"I always enjoy my time at work and love spending time with my colleagues. I’ve been told that everyone at Calvi can hear my laugh from miles away. Our working environment is very supportive. Working at Calvi truly feels like coming home."
Where do you see Calvi in 5 years?
"Calvi is going to take great steps in expanding its Bill Communication solution. We are continuously improving ourselves and working hard to create a world in which a bill is no longer a hassle. We will continue to share our vision all over the world. Our international focus has increased drastically, and some colleagues are even moving to the other side of the world, helping to set up our global presence. I feel that this is a sign of our continued international growth."
Calvi in three words:
“Ambitious, Sociable, Togetherness”
What is your personal motto?
"For me, it is important to enjoy every minute of every day. I mean what’s more important really? I aim to be cheerful and positive as much as I can. As I’ve already mentioned, people at the office recognize my laugh from miles away, which is why my personal motto is:"
“A day without laughter is a day wasted” (Charlie Chaplin)
