About Walter
Walter is 27 years old and lives in Tilburg (NL) with his wife (he got married three months ago). He is crazy about everything that has to do with sports and loves traveling. He has been to many places all over the world and aims to visit even more. He started working at Calvi 5 years ago as an intern and has since grown to become Calvi's Sales Director.
What’s your role within Calvi?
“I’m responsible for managing CALVI’s Sales & Marketing team and am part of the Operational Team (OT). As the Sales Director, I am responsible for providing guidance to our Account Managers and assisting them wherever necessary. For my role in the OT, I am the voice of the Sales & Marketing team. We cover strategic, organizational, and operational items during our meetings, and I enjoy having interesting and constructive discussions about the wide range of topics covered.
What are you like as a manager?
“What’s most important to me personally, but also as a manager, is energy. Within a team, you need team spirit: a feeling that together we can achieve anything if we work together. I love it when a team has positive synergy and exudes energy. That’s also what’s so special about our Sales team. Normally, people working in Sales are lone rangers: they have their own targets and only care about their own successes. Our team does not work with or care about individual targets: we score together.

what matters is leaving the field as winners.“
I take great pride in the fact that my team tells me that they get to work ready to take on the world, and they go home energized, instead of feeling empty or tired. Another aspect I find incredibly important is creating a working environment where people feel comfortable & safe and are treated with respect.”
What’s your next big thing?
“I’ll be leaving for Canada at the end of this year! We’re currently expanding our global presence, and part of this international growth process is the opening of new offices. As we are currently focusing on the North-American market, I will be setting up an office in Toronto with my American colleague.”
“Why Toronto you ask? Because Toronto is – in my opinion – the booming IT city of North-America, easily surpassing Silicon Valley. And of course, it’s a beautiful city to live in."

Can you pinpoint where Calvi will be in 5 years?
“Calvi will still consist of the same innovative, lively group of developers, but will have a product that has been developed even further and meets the needs of all organizations. I forecast that we will have doubled our customer base. Also, I see Calvi becoming an indispensable party that has a significant impact on customer experience, the improvement of the bill, and the reduction of paper use worldwide.”
What are you currently focusing on?
“My main focus right now is something that we have been working on for the past year and a half: worldwide growth and scalability. We are incredibly strong in the region we are currently active in, and we are in possession of everything we need to grow: people, solutions, processes. The main goal is conquering the world and opening new offices in places we are not yet (entirely) familiar with, the first being Toronto. So far, so good: we’ve grown fast in the past year and I’m excited about the opening! It’s an exciting new move that challenges us on a different level. Our goal is to practice what we preach on a global scale.”
